Review Summary: wgittleman
Review: The only review, so far, is that of Book List, which gives in detail the contents, so I will not repeat this; and I agree with what they write. My reasons for only three stars are this:(1) Mostly my criticism is the quality of the many color reproductions. They are, at least 95%, average to below average. I have a similar book (the catalogue of the Metropolitan Museum (NY) by Welch (which I see still is listed by Amazon despite its date of 1985) with which to compare. For this reason I would recommend looking first at the book, or, if it is purchased, to have the right of return.(2) It came without a slipcover so I am not sure whether there is, there, any details of the contributors. Asher is well known, as well as the female contributor of the same name. But otherwise there is no listing of the contributors (nor their positions, etc.), other than their name under the first page of each subject (again, nothing but the same),(3) The embarrassing self-congratulatory Foreward by Dale Hoiberg (who lists himself as both senior vice president and !editor!, is a joke considering the poor quality of the reproductions. He mentions that this is the first of a series of 'one-volume topical reference work(s)'; I hope the qualiity of the succeeding ones is of a better quality. As mentioned in the previous review, the quality of the text and the organization is excellent.Caveat emptor.
